The Subject: Derby Day Brat and Ag

We had an exciting weekend. Brat ran third and should have won the race
that he was in. He broke well and was in 5th place up close. As he
started his first move horses squeezed him off, then in the turn he made
another move only to have the front runners start backing up causing
him to check again. When he got a chance made another nice move, only
to come-up a little short. We were really happy with the effort. I am
little scared to run him back for $10,000 since they claimed the first
two horses out of this race, but then again last week I would have taken
alot less for him.
Old Ag had a tough first race. He broke ok, but the 9 and 11 horses
broke better and squeezed him off. He had more dirt thrown on him than
he ever had and he was hit in the eyes. He made some moves and got bumped
some and he ran all over the track looking for some room. The jock who
was a leading rider in Houston in the spring said that he was nice and
just green.
Both boys came home hungry with good cool legs.
It was nice to get to meet Charley and his wife even if for just a few
minutes in paddock. Next time Charley we'll see you more I hope.
