You should have a vet that has expereince with this procedure only.
They can make sure that the spint is a true splint and that
there is no fracture etc. of the splint bone.
If the slpint is fairly small and new you could try a little time off
and painting the splint with Ball Solution.
This works well with green splints.
Time is the key here as most splints will settle if you give
the horse a break.
Either choice will still leave the token knot on the leg,
however, the freezing tends to slow down the bone growth
and keep them from getting larger.
