She is in very good health, but I was told that she has a sesamoid fracture in one of her hind legs. The day that I bought her, she was almost completely lame in that leg. Now, four days later, she shows almost no signs of lameness, and is willing and able to put weight on that leg and use it. Was this possibly a missdiagnosis by the track vet? If so, what could be/is wrong with her?
Bandit's Mommy, I would take the mare and have her x-rayed again. she may have a small fracture that will grow back to normal with time. I would leave her up until the vet has had a chance to have a look. I have had sesamoids that required putting the horse down and I have had them come back just as good as before it all depends on the nature of the fracture. Let us know your results
